5th Grade News

Science Fair

Science Fair information was given  out today. The class can work with one other person or on their own. The Proposals are due on March 18. 

Stew Leonard's

Begining on Monday, March 1st and lasting until Sunday, April 4 Stew Leonard's will give 5% of the total spending by the members of the CTK family. You can bring your receipts to CTK school or church.  Containers can be found in the back of church or the school office. Please spread the word about this great opportunity for our school. 

Modell's cupons were sent home on Monday. You can save 15% when you use it between 3/12/10 and 4/08/10. The School gets 5% back.

A Special Visitor

 On January 26th the 5th Grade read to their Kindergarten buddies. The guest reader was Mrs. W's husband Mr. Walczewski.  He is the Madison Square Garden Announcer for The New York Knicks home games. 

Iona College

 On January 22nd the 4th-8th grades went to Iona College to watch a basketball game between Iona College and Manhattan College.

Christmas Concert

On December 18th The 5th Grade performed at the CTK Christmas Concert. 

  Grade 5 Trip to Albany

 On Oct. 29th The 4th to 8th Grades went to Albany.  It was a great learning experience. 

Yonkers Fire Department

On October 22nd The Yonkers Fire Department came to Christ the King to talk about fire safety.

Vocab. Unit 8 Test Tuesday, March 9th

English: The 5th Grade will be finishing up Unit 6 this week.  Test on Thursday, March11th

Reading: Students should be reading at east 30 minutes every night. Mystery Book Report due on March 22nd.

Science: Look over chemical properties.

Math: page 75 #9-14;page 177 #29-34; finish page 79

Week of 3/8/10-3/12.10

The 5th grade did a very nice job on their rainforest project. We all learned quite a bit; they should be proud of themselves. The projects are currently on display in the school lobby.

Friday-p 69, 1-12 in your notebook, # 5 worksheet

There will be a test on Ch 2 next week.

The bibliography that I gave the students for their SS project can be used for the upcoming science fair. Instructions will be sent home shortly.

Religion: The 5th Grade is learning about The Liturgy.

Liturgical Year Project: The class will make a poster showing The Liturgical Year.  It will be a circle graph with an explanation of each Season (look at pages 142-143 to get an idea). The Project will be do onMonday March 8th.
