ENJOY!!!
and remote controlled car action, thanks to Savva...
After setting our ladybugs free earlier in the week, we celebrated our new class 'pets', which arrived much later than they were supposed to, with a new floor puzzle that we took turns putting together and listened to a reading of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to get us ready for them. We got ready for the letter Ii with ice cream sundaes, and enjoyed some extra playtime in exchange for our usual afternoon naps.

It will be a short week, so here's some of the moments we caught on camera so far...
A quick shave on the way to our Festival of Cultures field trip...
Nothing but happiness and sunshine here!
Unfortunately, the batteries in my camera died after this. If I can get pictures from our chaperones, I will share them at a later time.
Special thanks to our chaperones!!! Everyone chipped in to make our trip as comfortable as possible!
Thank you, also, to Mrs. Browne, for a fascinating flag show today! We saw many different flags, but the last one truly caught our attention...
almost as much as the one we ate at snack today!

We were busy little bees this week, reviewing our alphabet from the beginning and learning to write our letters. Please remember that the coloring portion of their worksheets is for homework and can be handed in for display in the classroom.
We began learning how to spell some words through puzzle play on Monday, made our bumblebees on Wednesday while singing our favorite bumble bee song, and used our crosses on Thursday to remember that God wants us to spread peace in our world, beginning with the friends in our classroom. We listened to the story of "The Alphabet Tree" which helped to reinforce this message.
On Friday we took the afternoon off to go on a secret spy mission in the big school. With everyone away for their Field Day, we quietly snuck around searching for unlocked doors so we could see how the older kids live throughout their school day. We were delighted to find two open doors and made ourselves at home in their seats while we "I Spied" things that were similar to our own classroom. After an undetected undercover operation, we headed outside to enjoy the sunshine and some scooter rides.
Flying our bumblebees home...
Here's what we look like in 3rd Grade:
Our friendships are strong, but peace talks help us remember to use kind words...

After a week of extra practices, Pre-K Three gave quite a performance on Friday. As usual, their unpredictable antics left both the day and evening audiences with something to giggle about.
We've been spending a lot of time working on the alphabet...
We spin the alphabet wheel and perform activities based on the letter the spinner lands on...
We find letters that come before and after, play "I Spy" with our raindrop letters, and use our alphabet snacks to write words and names. Here's just one we were delighted to find...
We're watching for changes with our ladybug larvae...
We'll be continuing our alphabet activities on Monday before reviewing the alphabet as the "letter of the day". As always, we will move sequentially through the alphabet.
Well, we finally made it to the end of the alphabet and celebrated with a day at the 'zoo'. We counted the dots on our dice to see how many animal crackers we would get to eat each time we rolled and glued down the final number onto our zoo mats. We read a crazy zoo story and showed what our own zoo pets could do at storytime, and had an exciting zoo picnic with our animals outside for lunch.
We will finish up our Zz activities on Monday before beginning an alphabet review week with activities that center on the entire alphabet.
April 26 - April 30, 2010
After a challenging week of finding ways to fit the letter Xx into our daily activities and snacks, Yy week was a welcome change, though not without its challenges, as well. We settled for yellow foods almost the entire week, with yellow apples, bananas, a little bit of lemon for the most daring students, honey sunshine cereal from Kashi, honey teddy grahams, and yes, lots of yogurt. We learned in Xx week to identify our letters in the middle and at the end of words, so we continued that strategy this week and will certainly use it in the Zz week that lies ahead.
Yertle the Turtle was a most delightful reading, with an important lesson learned by all, and has prompted us to practice our rhyming words with several new activities added to our days and more Dr. Seuss stories to keep us engaged at storytime.
We also enjoyed "The Honeybee and the Robber" by Eric Carle and have become expert at 'stealing' the different colored flowers each day in our newest counting song, "Ten Little Flowers..."
Everybody joins in for Crazy Hat Day!
